Chelce Ann Culberson and Michael Chadric Dixon were married at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Brookes Chapel, Shorter College in Rome.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Culberson Sr. of Plainville. She is the granddaughter of Gladys Olson of Marysville, Wash., the late David Olson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Calvain E. Culberson.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L.M. Dixon of Rome and the late Tammy Dixon. He is the grandson of Virginia Tidwell of Rome, the late James Tidwell and the late Esther Vanhorn.
Dennis Cowart of Birmingham, Ala., performed the double-ring ceremony. One bronze arched candle stand and two spiral candle stands held white candles while greenery with white and pink flowers adorned the altar. Large white bows marked the pews.
A program of wedding music included “Claire de Lune,” “Canon in D,” “Somewhere over the Rainbow” and “My First, My Last, My Everything.” Flutist Vicky Drnek performed “Can’t Help Falling in Love with You” and “Ave Maria.”
Charlie Culberson Jr., brother of the bride, was the man of honor and Holly Canada was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Christi Burger, Brittany Matthews of Brooks, Brandy Garrett and Lindsey Flowers. The maid of honor and bridesmaids wore strapless cocktail-length empire waist dresses in pale pink accented with three diamond beads along the center of the corset bodices. They carried hand-tied bouquets of light pink gerbera daisies, roses and lilies.
The flower girl was Presley Lynn Dixon, daughter of the bride and groom. She wore a white A-line chiffon dress with ivory satin trim with sleeves accented with ivory satin trim and bows. She carried a pink and white basket with fuchsia rose petals.
The brother of the groom, Paul Dixon, was the best man. Adrian Marks, Chris McGill, Travis Burger and Randall Burger were groomsmen.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a white strapless A-line embroidered lace gown accented with beading of pearls and sequins that flowed into a chapel-length train. A wide white satin sash wrapped around the waist and tied in a bow in the back that draped down the train of the dress. She wore fuchsia satin peep-toe, platform pumps and a chapel-length veil and carried a hand-tied bouquet of deep fuchsia pink roses, gerbera daisies, lilies, carnations and peonies with pink jewels.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Center Stage at Heritage Hall.
The bride’s four-tiered cake was a combination of two tiers of a red velvet-cheesecake torte and two tiers of a strawberry shortcake-cheesecake torte with white butter cream icing. The top and third tiers were wrapped in a fuchsia pink satin ribbon accented with diamond encrusted pins. The top of the cake had a silver monogram letter “D.” The groom’s round chocolate cake with chocolate icing bore a University of Georgia theme with the bulldog mascot in the center.
Pre-nuptial parties included a miscellaneous shower hosted by the brides’ aunt Vicky Drnek; a miscellaneous shower hosted by Holly Canada; a miscellaneous shower hosted by Christi Burger along with Maxi Burger and Lindsay Stanford; a miscellaneous shower hosted by the aunt of the groom Gail Blanton; a lingerie shower/bachelorette party given by Holly Canada, Brittany Matthews, Christi Burger and Brandy Garrett in Atlanta; a bridal luncheon hosted by Kim Culberson at The Olive Garden in Rome; and a rehearsal dinner the night before hosted by the groom’s parents and Gail Blanton in Rome.
After a honeymoon to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple resides in Plainville.
