Kathryn Taylor Head and Joshua Matthew Claytor were married at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rome.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Head and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Crump, all of Rome.
The groom is the son of Paula Claytor of Rome and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Claytor of Summerville.
The Rev. James Miceli of Rome performed the double-ring ceremony before an altar adorned with arrangements of ivory blossoms including oriental lilies, roses, and hydrangea. Floral arrangements were placed in loving memory of the bride and groom’s grandparents. Clusters of ivory hydrangea accented by ivory ribbon designated family seating.
A program of wedding music included “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” “Ave Maria” and “The Bridal March.” “Canon in D” was performed by violist Emily Shepherd.
Alyssa Porter of Rome was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jessica Vick of Rome, Amy Storey of Cumming and Lindsey Stacy of Roswell. They wore A-line layered floor-length matte taffeta gowns in emerald green, with portrait necklines and gathers at the natural waists. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of black magic roses, ivory majolica roses, and antique green hydrangea accented with eucalyptus berries.
The flower girls were Ansley Jernigan of Buford and McKenna Jernigan of Gray, both cousins of the bride. They wore floor-length A-line gowns in champagne duchess satin. A satin ribbon fell from each empire waist. A bow and buttons adorned the back of each dress. The flower girls carried pomanders of ivory tea roses accented with champagne ribbon.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a strapless A-line silhouette gown with an empire waistline wrapped in luxe champagne satin flowing into a scalloped chapel-length train. A beaded overlay of ivory Chantilly lace scallops adorned the neckline with elaborate hand-embroidered designs and crystals on the bodice. She wore a cathedral-length champagne cut-edge veil and blusher, also in champagne. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of black magic roses tied with ivory satin and adorned with an heirloom handkerchief and brooch.
Matthew Claytor of Rome was the best man. Groomsmen were Heath Patterson of Dalton, Robert Binion of Norcross and Joseph Claytor of Rome, brother of the groom. William Otting of Rome, brother of the groom, was the junior groomsman.
The mother of the bride wore a deep chocolate silk chiffon formal with an asymmetrical neckline adorned with a silver brooch accenting the dropped waistline. The stepmother of the bride wore a cranberry chiffon floor-length gown adorned with a diamond brooch. The mother of the groom wore an indigo floor-length gown of lamé fabric with a satin netting overlay. The bodice was accented with an antique brooch. The stepmother of the groom wore a two-piece black suit. They were presented with bouquets of ivory roses. The grandmothers were presented with corsages of ivory tea roses.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Forrest Place Ballrooms in Rome. Refreshments included the bride’s four-tier sour cream pound cake with butter cream icing. The base of each tier was wrapped in a champagne fondant ribbon and adorned with ivory roses and berries. The groom’s chocolate peanut butter cake with butter cream icing had a layer of chocolate ganache poured over the top with a Georgia Tech logo.
The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rome.
Other pre-nuptial parties included an engagement party hosted by Paul and Brenda Giles and Freddie and Sabrina Giles; a miscellaneous shower hosted by Martha Thompson, Sherrie Sapp and Brittany Holcombe at the home of Martha Thompson in Roswell; a miscellaneous shower hosted by the ladies of Mizpah United Methodist Church in Kingston; a miscellaneous shower hosted by Lisa Claytor and Theresa Claytor in Summerville; a holiday shower hosted by Lisa Helbing at Harvest Moon in Rome; a lingerie shower hosted by and at the home of Twyla Crump in Rome; a tool and garden shower hosted by Linda Owens, Kathy Mull and Judy Niblett in Rome and a bridesmaid luncheon hosted by Beth Head at Sassafras Grill in Rome.
After a wedding trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple resides in Kennesaw.
