The Rev. Wayne Benefield of Cedartown performed the double-ring ceremony before an altar decorated with blue hydrangea, lavender roses and Yoko Ono chrysanthemums placed in an antique garden urn. Renaissance candelabra holding lighted pillar candles framed the wedding party. The center aisle was draped with ivory chiffon accented by bouquets of hydrangea and cascading foliages.

A program of wedding music was provided by soloist and guitarist Sam Hunt; organist Ivan Ray and pianist Leigh Ann Lundy. Solos included “Holy Ground” and “Forever Young.” Instrumental selections included “Canon in D,” “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” “Spring Praise,” “Rondeau,” “Prayer,” “Panis Angelicus,” “Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us,” and “In My Heart.”

The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a diamond white satin chiffon gown featuring a sweetheart neckline and lace-up back with a ruching enhanced bodice and upper midriff. Pearls and crystal embellishments adorned the empire waist with scattered pearls and crystals in the center back train. She wore a two-tiered diamond white veil edged with silver and crystal beading. The bride carried a bouquet of white lilies, stock and roses accented by blue thistle and wrapped with indigo-hued silk.

Kendal Carr of Cave Spring, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Carrly Campbell and Darby Harrison, both of Cedartown, Morin Frick of Louisville, Colo., Sarah Humphreys of Lexington, Ky., sister of the groom, Ashley Jiles of Carrollton and Jacquelyn Johnson of Rome. The attendants wore indigo tea-length tissue taffeta dresses, featuring gathered empire waists, pleated shoulder straps and accented with ruching throughout the dress. Attendants carried bouquets of blue hydrangea and lavender roses accented by green hypericum and Yoko Ono chrysanthemums.

Lilly Hayes was the flower girl. She wore a diamond white tissue taffeta dress with covered buttons down the back and accented with an indigo sash to match the bridesmaids’ dresses. The flower girl carried a kissing ball of Bells of Ireland florets tied with indigo ribbon.

Roger Austin, father of the groom, was the best man.

Groomsmen were Blake Alston, Ed Palladino and Paul Palladino, all of Carrollton, Kim Carr of Cave Spring, brother of the bride, Jason McGuire of Alpharetta, and Sam Stover of Hoboken, N.J. The mother of the bride wore a light willow floor-length woven silk dress with a pleated crossover empire waist, embellished with a beaded neckline. The groom’s mother chose a navy floor-length two-piece ensemble encrusted with intricate beading. The mothers were presented with bouquets of ivory roses. The grandmothers of the bridal couple were presented with corsages of cymbidium orchids.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Berry’s Ford Hall. A trolley shuttle was provided for the bridal party and guests to and from the reception. Refreshments included the bride’s seven-tier butter cream iced confection. The towering cake was designed with ivory shimmer dusted confectionary pearls on top of each tier as well as sugar beading on alternating tiers, created of sour cream pound cake with fresh strawberries and chocolate fudge cake with a strawberry filling. The front was embellished with sugar pearl buttons from top to bottom and accented by blue hydrangea and lavender roses.

The groom’s cake was an almond pound cake with raspberry filling, sculpted to look like the 12th hole at The Masters in Augusta.

The evening before the wedding, the groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner in the Etowah Room at Coosa Country Club in Rome.
