Wedding: Rebecca & Bryan

Rebecca Jane Loper and Bryan Paul Lowe, both of Rome, were married at 6 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Darlington School’s Morris Chapel in Rome.

The chancel area was lighted by pewter tree candelabras adorned with springeri and Oregon ferns. Bouquets of gerbera daisies and stargazer lilies designated family seating and ivory ribbons lined the center aisle.

A program of wedding music was provided by Scott Productions. Selections included “The Feather Song,” “Canon in D,” “Practical Magic,” “Me and You” and “What a Wonderful World.”

The bridesmaids wore formal gowns of chocolate satin featuring strapless bodices with asymmetrical pleating to the waists which flowed into A-line skirts. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of Anna roses and cymbidium orchids.

The flower girl wore a sleeveless gown of ivory iridescent taffeta featuring a crushed satin waistband and full pouf skirt with a flounce hem. She carried a kissing ball of miniature pink and ivory roses.

The bride wore a formal gown of ivory satin organza featuring a strapless bodice with butterfly shining enhanced with satin embroidery which met the draped empire waist and cascaded around to the back. The dropped waistline flowed into an A-line skirt that extended into the chapel-length train. She wore an elbow-length veil with a single layer of ivory illusion edged with pearls, bugle beads, and sequins. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of blush pink Anna roses, miniature calla lilies, and cymbidium orchids wrapped with ivory Midori satin.

After the ceremony the bridal party was taken to the reception at Coosa Country Club on the Toonerville Trolley. Refreshments included the bride’s four-tier hexagonal cake. The cake’s four layers featured pale pink icing, and each layer was decorated with custom scroll work highlighting the couples monogram. The groom’s cake was a replica of Paul “Bear” Bryant’s famous houndstooth hat.

Linsey Hartley and Matthew Davis, both of Dallas, were married at 4 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in Rome. The bride is the daughter of Michael and Debbie Hartley of Smyrna. She is the granddaughter of Marie Goddard of Atlanta, the late Fincher Goddard and the late Seaborn and Marion Hartley.

The groom is the son of Barry and Sherri Davis of Rome. He is the grandson of Fred and Frankie Fricks and Robert and Betty Davis, all of Shannon.

The Rev. Alvin Taylor of Shannon performed the double-ring ceremony before an altar illuminated by dozens of candles within a silver arch framed by two silver spiral candelabras. The couple’s white unity candle was placed upon a silver stand and was completed with seasonal greenery. The chapel’s stained glass windows were adorned with votive candles arranged in decorative black wrought iron holders. Family pews were marked with white satin bows.

Dee McDaniel of Rome, aunt of the groom, greeted guests and attended the bridal guestbook.

A program of wedding music included “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” by Bach, “Canon in D,” “Fanfare,” “Bridal Chorus,” “You and Me,” and “Wedding March.”

Jennifer Daniels of Silver Creek, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Amanda Chasse of Marietta, Brittany Dixon and Jaclyn Dixon, both of Kennesaw, Katey Jackson of Bremen and Samantha Robinson of Kingston, sister of the groom. They wore strapless sapphire blue tea-length gowns of chiffon featuring hanging light blue satin sashes. The satin shirred waists flowed into A-line double-tier hems. The attendants carried nosegay bouquets of yellow Charlotte roses accented with blue delphinium and hand-tied with white satin ribbon.

The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a strapless white taffeta gown with a sweetheart neckline featuring a side-draped fitted bodice with lace embroidery entwined with tiny seed pearls. The full skirt, accented with crystal floral designs, was highlighted by a chapel-length train that was fashioned into a three-point bustle for the reception. She wore a matching finger-tip length veil embellished with pearl and rhinestone accents. The bride carried a round bouquet of white and yellow Charlotte roses accented with blue satin ribbon and wore her paternal Grandmother’s wedding rings.

Barry Davis, father of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen were Perry Barnes, cousin of the groom, Rusty Bishop, Chris Ely, Mark Reeves, all of Rome, Jeremy Robinson of Kingston, brother-in-law of the groom and Josh Smith of Marietta.

Ushers were Cody Barnes of Rome, cousin of the groom and Rusty Daniels of Silver Creek, brother-in-law of the bride. The mother of the bride wore a two-piece sleeveless wine tea-length gown featuring a matching jacket of floral lace with sequin accents. The mother of the groom wore a pale yellow floral gown. They were presented with silver tussie mussies of roses and the grandmothers of the bridal couple received white spray rose wristlets.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Centre Stage at Heritage Hall in Rome. Refreshments included the bride’s square five-tier white cake with butter cream icing. The confection, complete with edible pearls and light blue satin ribbon around the base of each layer, was placed upon a silver plateau and featured a fondant bow on the top tier and the couple’s monogram. The groom’s two-tier chocolate tuxedo cake, complete with chocolate dipped strawberries, was highlighted by bride and groom strawberry toppers. The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Magretta Hall in Rome.

Other pre-nuptial parties included an engagement party hosted by Fred and Frankie Fricks at the Fricks’ home; a couple’s shower hosted by Jeremy and Samantha Robinson at the Robinson home; a bridal shower hosted by Jennifer Daniels and Katey Jackson in the Ford Living Room at Berry College; a miscellaneous shower hosted by the women at Shannon United Methodist Church; a lingerie shower hosted by Dee McDaniel and Samantha Robinson at the McDaniel home; a bridesmaids luncheon hosted by Frankie Fricks in the private mezzanine level at Harvest Moon Café; a miscellaneous shower hosted by 5 South Surgical at WellStar Kennestone; a bachelorette outing hosted by Jaclyn Dixon and a bachelor outing in Atlanta.

After a wedding trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Dallas.
