Recap: Showcase 2008

For our second year, Scott Productions organized and produced another successful showcase. Close to 200 brides-to-be from all around the area attended the Northwest Georgia Bridal Showcase, held Sunday January 27 at The Forum in downtown Rome. With the grand announcement of “Here come the Brides!” the doors opened at 1PM and the arena was suddenly filled with excited chatter as soon-to-be brides and grooms, with their friends and parents, visited the numerous vendors of all aspects of a wedding.

Some of the area’s finest wedding services were showcased and available to answer questions: photographers, florists, formal wear, caterers, invitations, party rental, limousine, reception facilities, videographers and so many more!

On stage, brides and their guests got close up views of the latest in wedding attire during the lively fashion show at 3PM presented by “The Top Hat Formal Wear” and “The White Dress” both of Rome. The audience was entertained by unforgettable fashions featuring an array of beautiful wedding & bridesmaids’ gowns, dresses, tuxedos, and children’s formals.

Our incredible emcees for the fashion show included the very lovely Karli Morgan of the Q102 “Morning Q” and a very special guest host Justin Brown traveling all the way from Birmingham, Alabama. Justin has been a great friend of Michael & Amy (Scott Productions) since the late eighties.

The wonderful stage setup was created by “Action Rent All” of Cartersville and “Bussey’s Florist” of Cedartown. It was absolutely the best stage design in the history of the showcase.

During the fashion show, thousands of dollars in door prizes were awarded including a weekend getaway package to “The Claremont House Bed & Breakfast”.

The showcase concluded with the anouncement of “The Bride’s Choice Award” being awarded to “The Honeymoon Bakery” by popular vote, and “The Best in Show” being presented to “My Tiers of Joy” determined by our impartial judge. Congratulations to both of these great exhibitors!

Scott Productions thanks many sponsors for their support that contributed to the continuing success of the Northwest Georgia Bridal Showcase: Q102 Radio, Action Rent All, Bussey’s Florist, The Top Hat Formal Wear, The White Dress and The Claremont House.

Wedding: Christi and Travis

Congratulations to Christi and Travis! The happy couple became one of our first newlyweds for the 2008 season and were married on March 1st. Scott Productions assisted them with both the wedding ceremony and reception.

The ceremony was held at Lakeview Baptist Church in Rome. The music programing consisted of “Forrest Gump Suite” for the seating of the grandparents & parents, “Canon in D” for the bridal party, “Practical Magic” for the bridal entrance, and an instrumental arrangement of “You and Me” for the lighting of the unity candle. During the ceremony a slide show created by Scott Productions was shown with “Stealing Cinderella” by Chuck Wicks as the background music. Although the program listed the traditional “Wedding March” for the recessional, the groom, wedding party & guests were surprised by “I’m A Believer” by Smash Mouth. After all, Shrek left his wedding to the same tune!

The reception was held at the Rome Civic Center on Jackson Hill. For their first dance the couple chose “Make You Feel My Love” by Garth Brooks. The cutting of the Auburn themed groom’s cake was enhanced by the Auburn Fight Song! Christi danced with her father to “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw, a custom edit by Scott Productions.

After an exciting evening of toasts, dancing, and fun, the couple concluded with their last dance “Love Is A Beautiful Thing” by Phil Vassar.

“Michael & Amy,

Thank so much for all you did to make Christis & Travis’ day perfect! They have sent us a few text messages telling us how much they loved it and all their friends enjoyed it too. Christi said it was just how they pictured it. They both said the reception was so much fun! I actually overheard one of their bridemaids tell her mom she wanted a wedding just like this.

Thank you both so much and I’m sure you’ll be getting more calls for weddings.

Love, Joy (Mother of The Bride). ”

We wish Christi and Travis all the very best with their marriage.

Wow! Have we ignored our blog or what?

The Northwest Georgia Bridal Showcase was once again an incredible success. But what happened afterwards slowed us down!

A few days after the showcase, we sent out the bridal registry, updated parts of our website, and began working with the numerous brides contacting us after the showcase!

The entire month of February has been such a blur for us.

Unfortunately tragic family news hit us and we found out that Amy’s grandfather had been sent home under hospice care from the nursing home. Amy & her mother spent one week caring for him for an entire week down in Panama City, Florida.

After returning home and one week later, her grandfather passed away and Amy & her mother once again returned to Florida for one week handling the funeral arrangements and meeting with family.

Meanwhile Michael played bachelor during Amy’s absence with the two boys (5 & 10). The youngest came down with the flu by Tuesday! Then by Friday Michael began fever for four straight days! Do you know how long it takes to get over the flu!

And now to our events in February while all of this was happening. We performed for:

Two Different Birthday Parties
The Cedartown Follies
An Anniversary Party
Several School Dances Including Two Fund Raisers
And Three Wedding Ceremonies & Receptions!
We also rebuilt one laptop in the home office along with two desktop computers.

Did we also mention that the Georgia Department of Transportation met with us twice concerning a major highway project that will be devouring our property and that we will need to relocate by the end of the year? OMG!

Wow! What a month!

We do need to admit that the Van Halen concert at Philips Arena was incredible!

Hopefully we’ve replied to your emails; that we’ve sent out your info packets; that we’ve sent out your bridal list; that we’ve sent out your contracts and your planners. If you’re still waiting to hear from us… send us another email!

We love weddings and we’d love to hear from you!
