Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Briggs of Rome announce the engagement of their daughter Morgan Elizabeth Briggs to Randall David De Kleine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne De Kleine of Zeeland, Mich.

Miss Briggs is a 2005 graduate of Hopewell Valley Central High School in Pennington, N.J., and a 2009 graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich., with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She is employed at Floyd Medical Center in Rome.

The bride-elect is the sister of Meredith Briggs and Madeline Briggs, both of Rome. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Morgan of New Bern, N.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Briggs of Boothwyn, Pa.

De Kleine is a 2003 graduate of Holland Christian High School in Holland, Mich., and a 2008 graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, with Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He is currently enrolled in the Master of Education program at Berry College.

The groom-elect is the brother of Robert De Kleine of Ann Arbor, Mich. and Ryan De Kleine of Zeeland, Mich. He is the grandson of Esther De Kleine, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Janssen, all of Zeeland, and the late Reynold De Kleine.

The wedding ceremony is planned for Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, at Frost Chapel of Berry College. A reception will be held at the Ford Dining Hall.

Engagement: Gore & Forsyth

Mr. and Mrs. Barry Gore of Aragon announce the engagement of their daughter Amy Sarah Gore to Shane Corey Forsyth, son of Johnny and Conda Forsyth of Aragon.

Miss Gore is a 2006 graduate of Rockmart High School and is currently a student at Georgia Highlands College in the school of nursing and is scheduled to graduate in May. She is employed at Floyd Medical Center.

The bride-elect is the sister of Emily Gore of Aragon. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Moates of Aragon, Barbara Gore of Rockmart and the late Bobby Gore.

Forsyth is a 2000 graduate of Pepperell High School. He is employed with Georgia Power in Atlanta.

The groom-elect is the brother of Lemans Forsyth of Aragon. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Roberson of Aragon and the late Mr. and Mrs. Willard Forsyth.

A private beach wedding ceremony is planned for Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at St. John’s, Antigua. A reception will take place upon returning home.

Kim and Pam Canada of Rome announce the engagement of their daughter Holly Marie Canada to Adrian Jerome Marks, son of Robert Holtzclaw of Rome and the late Janell Marks Holtzclaw.

Miss Canada is a 2002 honor graduate of Coosa High School, a 2006 graduate of Shorter College with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a 2009 graduate of Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She is a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity. She is employed at Floyd Medical Center.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mattie Canada of Rome, the late Arthur Canada and the late Norman and Bobbye Pierce.

Marks is a 2003 graduate of Coosa High School. He is employed with Baker Mechanical Contractors of Rome.

The groom-elect is the brother of Senior Airman Jeffrey Holtzclaw of Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., and Paige Holtzclaw of Rome. He is the grandson of the late Joe and Beatrice Marks.

The wedding ceremony is planned for Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Frost Chapel, Berry College in Rome. A reception will follow at the Rome Civic Center.

Mr. and Mrs. William James Babb of Rome announce the engagement of their daughter Sara Rebecca Banks of Rock Hill, S.C., to Derek Christopher Odom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Arnold Odom Jr. of Rock Hill. Banks is the daughter of Timothy Ray Banks of Stockbridge.

Miss Banks is a 2003 honor graduate of Rome High School and a 2007 magna cum laude graduate of Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville with a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood education. While at Georgia College, she was a member of Gamma Beta Phi, Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies, and received the Outstanding Undergraduate Student in Early Childhood Education award. She is employed as a teacher at Great Falls Elementary School in Great Falls, S.C.

The bride-elect is the sister of Jordan Banks of Marietta and David Banks of Rome. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jordan Barnes of Manchester and Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Banks of Grantville.

Odom is an Eagle Scout and a 2003 honor graduate of Westminster Catawba Christian School in Rock Hill and a 2007 cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina Moore School of Business in Columbia with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in supply chain management and corporate finance. He is employed as a retail forecast manager with Springs Global in Fort Mill, S.C.

The groom-elect is the brother of Audrey Odom of New York, N.Y., Tommy Odom and Jill Odom, both of Rock Hill. He is the grandson of Eva H. Rowan of Johnson City, Tenn., the late Thomas H. Rowan and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph A. Odom Sr.

The wedding ceremony is planned for Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at Barnwell Chapel on the Berry College campus in Rome. A reception will follow at Magretta Hall.

Jennifer Leigh Pilgrim and U.S. Army Specialist Christopher Michael Cox were married at 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, in the Chapel at Berry College in Rome.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Pilgrim of Rome. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Terhune Jr. of Rome and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pilgrim.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Michael Cox of Leesburg. He is the grandson of Adele Cox of Albany, the late Jack Cox and the late Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Edwards.

Frank Wood of Rome performed the double-ring ceremony. An arrangement of fall flowers centered the altar between lighted candelabras. The altar also featured a unity candle decorated with fall foliage and satin ribbon. Family pews were marked with an arrangement of hydrangea, satin ribbon and greenery. Windows in the chapel contained lighted lanterns surrounded by greenery and fall foliage.

A program of wedding music was provided by violinist Abigail Lee; pianist Josiah Lee; guitarist Denaye Lee; vocalists Julianne Evelti and Bryon and Kera Lee. Selections included “This Day,” “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” “Canon in D,” “Wedding March,” “The Prayer,” “Holy Ground” and “Surely the Presence.”

Jillian Pilgrim of Rome was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Lindsay Edwards of Monroe, Amanda Lewis of Cornelia, Katie Plummer of Cedar Bluff, Ala., Haley Shore of Cedartown, Staci Sullins of Rome, Stacie Givens of Loxahatchee, Fla., and Rachel Cox, sister of the groom. They wore formal two-piece gowns of vintage merlot taffeta featuring strapless, sweetheart bodices enhanced with asymmetrical pleating. The slim A-line skirts were accented with matching waist tie sashes. They also wore pearl earrings and necklaces, gifts from the bride. The bridesmaids carried hand-tied bouquets of gerber daisies, alstroemeria and berries.

The flower girls were Alex and Laramie Lanier, both of Rome. They wore tea-length gowns of ivory lace accented at the waistline with vintage merlot satin sashes. They carried pumpkin baskets filled with autumn leaves.

The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a formal gown of ivory Italian satin. The strapless, sweetheart neckline featured alencon lace accentuated with pearls and iridescent sequins. The Basque bodice accented the waistline with inverted pleats which flowed into the full ballgown skirt. The cathedral-length train was adorned around the bottom with alencon lace and bands of scalloped satin. She wore a veil featuring two-tiers of ivory illusion with scalloped pearl edging. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of mango calla lilies, gerber daisies, roses, and berries. She also carried a Bible that was carried by her maternal grandmother on her wedding day.

The father of the groom and James Cox, brother of the groom, were the best men. Groomsmen were Jon Cox, brother of the groom, Jesse Lewis of Cornelia, Zack Watson and Garrett Cude, both of Fort Campbell, Ky., Josh Pilgrim and Jacob Pilgrim, both brothers of the bride.

Ushers were Jason Phothisen, Michael Stevens, Michael Feher, and David Gudmunson, all of Fort Campbell.

The ring bearers were Caleb and Eli Baldwin of Rome.

The mother of the bride wore a formal gown of rose taffeta. The sleeveless gown featured a criss-crossed portrait collar that flowed into the ruched bodice and long flowing A-line skirt. The mother of the groom wore a floor-length two-piece gown featuring a pleated tank bodice with a charmeuse skirt. The mocha colored gown featured a pleated jacked adorned with jewels. Each mother carried a hand-tied miniature bouquet of white calla lilies and roses. The grandmothers were presented with corsages of white calla lilies.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Rome Civic Center. Refreshments included the bride’s four-tier cream cheese frosted cake featuring layers of chocolate, red velvet and white cake. The cake was accented with assorted fall decorations featured under a lighted gazebo. The groom’s brownie cake was decorated with the U.S. Army emblem and was accompanied by chocolate chip cookies, chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate covered pretzels.

The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Plantation at Horseleg Creek in Rome.

Other pre-nuptial parties included a miscellaneous shower hosted by the Joy Sunday School class at Calvary Baptist Church in Rome; a miscellaneous shower hosted by Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church; a miscellaneous shower hosted by Sheree Shore and Nan Compton at the bride’s grandparents home in Rome; a lingerie and bridal shower hosted by Staci Sullins at her home in Rome; a bridesmaid’s tea hosted by the mother of the bride at the Victorian Rose Tea Room in Rome and a bridal luncheon the day of the wedding hosted by Judy LeRoy and Sharon Sullins at the Berry College Cottages.

After a wedding trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Mr. and Mrs. James E. Pilgrim of Rome announce the engagement of their daughter Jennifer Leigh Pilgrim to Christopher Michael Cox, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Michael Cox of Leesburg.

Miss Pilgrim is a 2005 honor graduate of Pepperell High School, a 2008 magna cum laude graduate of Piedmont College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and a 2009 graduate of Piedmont College with a Master’s degree in business administration.

Cox is a 2005 graduate of Lee County High School and is currently stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colo. with the U.S. Army. Cox recently returned home from a year-long tour of duty in Afghanistan.

The groom-elect is the brother of James, Rachel, and Jonathan Cox, all of Leesburg. He is the grandson of Adele Cox of Albany, the late Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Edwards and the late Jack Cox.

Wedding: Crystal & TJ

Crystal LeAnn Farrer and James Kenneth Edenfield III were married at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Oak Hill Church of Christ in Rome.

The bride is the daughter of David Farrer of Rome and Cyndie and Carl Crider of Silver Creek. She is the granddaughter of Louise Farrer and Mary Vaughn, both of Rome, and the late Robert G. Farrer and Bennie Duvall.

The groom is the son of Ken Edenfield Jr. of Rome and Janice Edenfield of Adairsville. He is the grandson of Annette Edenfield of Rome, Mildred Moore of Adairsville and the late Emmett Mulkey and Ken Edenfield Sr.

Joey L. Haynes of Rome performed the double-ring ceremony. Sheer bows of sapphire ribbon adorned with white Catteya orchids and peacock feathers marked the family pews. Photos of both the bride and groom’s grandfathers were placed along with two lit candles on a memorial table in the foyer.

A program of wedding music included various selections from the String Quartet Tribute to the Dave Matthews Band including “Best of What’s Around,” “Crash Into Me,” “Satellite,” “Say Goodbye,” “The Space Between” and “Smile That Way.” Vocalists were Joey Cross, Love Daniels and Anthony Johnson, all of Rome. They performed “I Will Be Here,” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” The Spirit One Gospel Choir of Rome performed “Amazing Grace” and “Oh, Happy Day!”

Deana Spranza of Silver Creek, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. Kacie and Shelby Farrer, both of Rome, sisters of the bride, were the maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Kristi Clark of Atlanta, Laura Edenfield of Rome, sister of the groom, Brittney McCord of Adairsville and Angelica Mosley of Dallas, cousin of the bride. They wore a combination of wide-strapped and strapless tea-length duchess satin dresses in sapphire blue with celestial blue sashes tied in bows. Bridesmaids carried bouquets of cream-colored orchids and peacock feathers tied in sheer sapphire ribbon, embellished with pearls.

Ashtyn Edenfield of Adairsville, daughter of the groom, was the junior bridesmaid. She wore a spaghetti strap floor-length gown in sapphire blue with an empire waist. It was adorned with iridescent beads and sequins in various shades of blue along the neckline. She carried a small bouquet of cream-colored orchids and peacock feathers tied in sheer sapphire ribbon, embellished with pearls.

Gabriella Mosley of Dallas, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl. She wore an ivory spaghetti strap floor-length gown that was fitted at the waist and fell into a pick-up skirt. A satin sash of sapphire blue accented the waist and was tied in a bow. She carried a kissing ball made with ribbon of various shades of blue and gold.

The bride, given in marriage by her family and escorted by her mother, wore an ivory satin strapless gown with a champagne band along the neckline which formed into a champagne corseted back. The gown featured a chapel-length train fitted through the waist which fell into gentle pick-ups along the bottom. She wore an ivory birdcage veil embellished with pearls and a custom-made hairpiece with peacock and rooster feathers decorated with a pearl and sapphire stone brooch. The bride carried a bouquet of cream-colored orchids and peacock feathers tied with a sheer ribbon of sapphire blue and adorned with pearls. She also carried her Chi Omega handkerchief given to her on the day of initiation into sisterhood.

Vann Knight of Rome was the best man. Groomsmen were Jimmy Childs of Rome, Charlie Crider of Silver Creek, brother of the bride, Ken Edenfield Jr. of Rome, father of the groom, Andrew Edenfield of Rome, brother of the groom, Scott Foss of Nashville and Bradley Smith of Rome.

The junior groomsmen were John Spranza IV and Nicholas Spranza, both of Silver Creek, nephews of the bride.

Wade Crider of Armuchee, nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer.

The mother of the bride wore a medium champagne-colored pant suit with a chiffon overlay. The suit was enhanced with a sheer jacket of champagne that was accented by gold and champagne iridescent sequins on the sleeves. Her top was also embellished with the same sequins as the jacket. The mother of the groom wore an icy-sage ruche chiffon gown with a floor-length skirt and a beaded collar. A wide ruche waist framed the keyhole bodice of the gown. The mothers and grandmothers were presented with corsages of white Catteya orchids accented with sapphire ribbon. All flowers were hand-made by the bride’s mother.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Georgia Highlands College’s Lakeview Building in Rome. Refreshments included the bride’s three-tier red velvet cake with butter cream cheese icing and cream cheese filling. The cake was accented with sapphire blue ribbon and a peacock feather ornament on each tier. A gold cake-topper with sapphires, in the initial “E,” adorned the top of the cake. The groom’s cake was a chocolate sheet cake featuring a North Carolina Tarheels theme.

The evening before the wedding, the groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner at Old Havana Cigar Co.

Other prenuptial parties included a meet-the-in-laws luncheon hosted by the bride’s family; a work shower at Georgia Highlands College hosted by Alison Lampkin and Angelica Mosley; a martinis and monograms shower hosted by Kristi Clark, Lisa Hartsfield, Ali Kimberl, Brittney McCord, Angelica Mosley and Deana Spranza at the home of Ali Kimberl; a miscellaneous shower and brunch hosted by Lisa Faircloth, Janet Smith, Jo Smith and Susan Stephens at the Stephen’s home; a church shower hosted by the ladies of Oak Hill Church of Christ; a bachelorette celebration weekend in Savannah hosted by the mother and sisters of the bride and Miranda Underhill; a couples luau hosted by the bride’s family, bridesmaids and Hailey Marion at Meadow Lakes Country Club in Cedartown and a ladies shower hosted by Janice Edenfield and Leigh Jackson at the Mount Berry United Methodist Church.

After a wedding trip to Chicago, Ill., the couple will reside in Rome.
